20th anniversary Celebration October 11, 2009
|
On the Lord's day, November 12, 1989, the charter of Lord of Life Lutheran
Church was signed by baptized Christians who were commissioned by God to
form themselves into a congregation to bring the Gospel to this community.
The charter spelled out that the unique purpose of the congregation is to carry
out Christ's Great Commission (Matthew 28:20) both within and without the
congregation.

“The Eagle Has Landed!”
There have been four Boy Scouts of America Eagle Projects completed at
Lord of Life Lutheran Church. This is a project that the Boy Scout must
plan, fund and complete in his quest to achieve the highest honor in Boy
Scouts—his Eagle.
1. Chris Cherniss—the prayer garden brick patio.
2. Scott Cherniss—the fence at the trash dumpster.
3. Roy Reader—lined utility closet with plastic sheeting.
4. Brian Klonch—the playground gazebo/bench.
Listing these projects so simply doesn’t put into perspective the “blood,
sweat, and tears” these young men endured. These projects were
supported financially by the church and assisted by church members, (Kyle
Adams helped on a few of these—remember Kyle?) It’s wonderful to see
our church family support our youth, and the youth support our church
home.
We’re looking forward to having more “Eagles” land at Lord of Life. Happy
Anniversary! Susan Reader
If you have a story you would like to share about a special time at Lord of
Life, please send it in! We look forward to hearing from you! The

Tying the Knot By Dana Heintz as told by Kyle Adams
August 3, 1991 Kyle and Nelda Adams were joined in Holy Matrimony!
Pastor Hamit was in Quwait so Pastor Mark Goodwill performed the
ceremony. Kyle and Nelda were the first couple married in the CHURCH by
three hours. They split the cost of the flowers, etc. with Dee Castler's
daughter, who was married later that day. Kyle remembers driving past her
with the cans attached to his car as Dee's daughter was on her way to the
church. Joy and Eric DuBois sang a duet that Eric had written. Kyle
remembers Nelda got chocked up when she had to say the "honor and obey"
part of the ceremony. Kyle nodded in agreement all the way through the
ceremony, probably with Kyle's signature grin. All of Kyle's surfing buddies
were there, rather a motley crew according to Kyle.
Michael and Brenda Pimentel married, first, but their ceremony took place
after church one Sunday morning at the community center.
